An ultimate guide to total solar eclipse 2024 events in Central Texas

The April 8 total solar eclipse is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and if you want to make the day even more stellar, Austin and its surrounding cities have several special offerings.

Step into the path of totality and check out these events before you have to wait a couple decades for the next eclipse:

Hotel Viata

Located at 320 S Capital of Texas Highway, the hotel is offering several special eclipse experiences.

  • Total Eclipse Package: Overnight accommodations, custom viewing glasses, gourmet picnic for two with blanket, map of recommended eclipse viewing spots and two signature cocktails. Available for booking from April 1-12.
  • Moon Dipped Bliss Spa Package: Three-hour spa experience with a bottle of sparkling wine. Available for booking from April 1-12.
  • Eclipse Pool Party: Pre-eclipse bash from 5-7 p.m. April 7 with small bites, an eclipse cocktail, live music and more. Tickets are $57 per person.
  • New Moon Yoga Flow and Sound Bath: Post-eclipse experience from 8-10 a.m. April 9. Tickets are $25 per person.

Uplift Vineyard

For $925 per person, the Burnet vineyard at 1411 Co Road 119 will offer an all-day eclipse event on April 8 featuring live fire-cooked brunch and dinner, master blending session with winemakers, eclipse talks from an astronomer and more.

Commodore Perry Estate

The estate will have two days of eclipse offerings.

  • April 6: Cocktails, presentations from UT Austin astronomy professors and a star party with s'mores.
  • April 8: Transportation to Marisol Springs Ranch for hikes, horses, astronomy talks, arts, garden tours, food and beverages and music.

William Chris Vineyards

The vineyard will present "astronomer-led lessons, wine barrel tastings, a country music concert with KJ97 and iHeart Radio and more," according to a press release. The event will take place April 8 at 10352 U.S. Highway 290 in Hye near Johnson City. Tickets cost $400 per person.

Outdoorsy Hill Country

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 8, guests can enjoy a watch party with live music, a chef-prepared lunch, two complimentary drink tickets, local wines, craft brews, an astronomer talk and a pop-up shop from a yet-to-be-announced Texas ranch brand. Tickets are $150 per person, and the watch party is located at 300 Wilke Trail in Stonewall, right between Fredericksburg and Johnson City. Outdoorsy Hill Country is also offering three-night eclipse package bookings for their suites and lodges.

Sign Bar Eclipse Party

This colorful memorial to popular Austin spots of the past will host its party beginning at noon April 8. Offerings include a DJ, complimentary eclipse glasses, "Total Eclipse of the Heart" cocktails and cosmic-themed snacks.

City of Kerrville

Kerrville, located just southwest of Fredericksburg, will host the Kerrville Eclipse Festival on April 8. Free parking at a downtown garage is limited and first-come-first-serve.

Off-site event parking at Tivy High School must be secured in advance for $60, as the festival will not offer at-the-gate sales. Parking costs will increase to $100 at 8 a.m. March 11. Shuttles will take guests from the high school to the festival.

The city will also offer eclipse viewing at Kerrville Sports Complex, and pre-paid parking is required here, as well.

Wedding Oak Winery

All three Wedding Oak Winery locations — Burnet, Fredericksburg, San Saba — will host eclipse parties on April 8 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Guests will receive eclipse glasses, prime viewing areas, small bites, live entertainment, a commemorative wine bottle and Govino stemless glass. Tickets are $200 per person.

The Salt Lick BBQ's Solar Eclipse Party

From 10 a.m.-4 p.m. April 8, the popular barbecue joint will host a party with performances from Dale Watson and His Lonestars as well as Tomar and the FCs. Tickets are $25 per vehicle and complimentary eclipse glasses for the first 1,000 attendees.

Cedar Park Calloway's Nursery

The Cedar Park location of Calloway's Nursery, located at 1201 S. Bell Blvd., will throw a viewing party from 1-2 p.m. April 8 with goodie bags, chalk, coloring pages and more.

The Fieldhouse at the Crossover

At 1717 Scottsdale Drive in Leander, the Fieldhouse's eclipse party will begin at 11 a.m. Offerings include themed drinks, food trucks and a DJ. Attendees can also enter a raffle for a Mitsubishi Eclipse car at $8 a ticket, with proceeds going toward a kidney transplant for a Fieldhouse team member's son.

Arch Ray Resort

The resort describes its two-day eclipse event as "a VIP festival with limited tickets available." The event begins at noon on April 7 and 8 in Fredericksburg with lots of live music. Performers include the Goo Goo Dolls, Switchfoot, Cory Morrow, Lane Smith, Fastball, Slim Bawb and more. Tickets cost between $129 and $269.

Meow Wolf Presents: Gone Fishing

Meow Wolf is coming to Burnet from April 5-8 for a special eclipse event. The "lakeside immersive world" will take up camp at Reveille Peak Ranch with many performers, immersive art, yoga sessions, educational classes and more. Ticket prices vary.
